Simiso Velempini

London

Simiso Velempini is a London-based Senior Advisor at Jetty Partners, advising corporations, law firms, development finance institutions, and private investors on disputes and arbitration support, pre-transactional integrity due diligence, and political and reputational risk across African markets, with particular depth in extractives.

Her work in the sector covers artisanal and small-scale mining formalization, critical minerals supply chain risk, and matters at the intersection of political dynamics, stakeholder interests, and operational security.

Simiso has advised clients across West, Central, and Southern Africa on live disputes, high-stakes transactions, and reputation-critical situations. She is regularly instructed on cross-border matters where the commercial question turns on a clear understanding of the local context: what the available record will and won’t support, how a counterparty has behaved in previous dealings, and how power and interests are likely to shift.

Simiso has held senior leadership roles at international risk advisory and business intelligence firms, including Control Risks and K2 Integrity, where she directed investigations, intelligence, and dispute-resolution engagements for clients in contentious and time-sensitive matters. Earlier in her career, she led reputation management and stakeholder strategy for a pan-African financial institution across twelve markets.

She is a Trustee of the Caine Prize for African Writing.
